Groundbreaking Ceremony for CAMIL Inland Waterway Port & International General Port – Phase 1: A New Link in Southern Vietnam’s Logistics Network

On October 14, 2026, CAMIL officially broke ground on Phase 1 of its Inland Waterway Port & International General Port project in the Cai Mep area. Attending the ceremony, VINAFCO expressed its interest in collaborating with CAMIL and other partners to strengthen logistics service connectivity and better serve business customers across Southern Vietnam.

CAMIL – A New Logistics Gateway Near the Deep-Sea Port Cluster

The groundbreaking ceremony took place as Southern Vietnam continues to strengthen its strategic position within the national logistics network. Key growth drivers include the Cai Mep–Thi Vai deep-sea port cluster, Long Thanh International Airport, and major industrial parks.

The rapid development of transportation infrastructure and international trade has increased demand for multimodal connectivity, cost optimization, and supply chain efficiency. Against this backdrop, CAMIL General Port and Logistics Center is envisioned as a strategic link connecting deep-sea ports, inland waterways, road transportation, warehousing facilities, and air cargo networks.

Covering a total area of 38.6 hectares, the project’s first phase includes the development of two berths designed to accommodate vessels and barges of up to 5,000 DWT. In the long term, CAMIL aims to expand to eight berths, with the capacity to handle vessels of up to 20,000 DWT.

VINAFCO Seeks to Strengthen Logistics Collaboration with CAMIL

Attending the ceremony as an industry partner, VINAFCO recognized CAMIL as an important addition to Southern Vietnam’s evolving logistics infrastructure.

With nearly 40 years of development, VINAFCO has established extensive capabilities across key segments of the logistics value chain, including:

- Domestic coastal shipping connecting Northern, Central, and Southern Vietnam;

- Road transportation;

- Warehousing and distribution center operations;

- International freight forwarding;

- Experience in operating inland container depots (ICDs) and inland waterway ports.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Bui Minh Hung, CEO of VINAFCO Joint Stock Corporation, shared:

"VINAFCO looks forward to working alongside CAMIL as a logistics service partner, connecting our services into a seamless logistics chain—from deep-sea port terminals to factory gates, and from Southern Vietnam to destinations nationwide."

According to VINAFCO, specific areas of cooperation will continue to be discussed and explored by the parties, taking into account their respective development strategies and mutual interests.

Advancing Seamless Logistics Solutions for Business Customers

Together with ASG, ALS, and other partners attending the ceremony, potential collaboration among logistics companies with complementary strengths is expected to create greater value for business customers through fewer cargo handling stages, shorter transit times, and more optimized logistics costs.

CAMIL has adopted the message “Connecting to Create Value.” This vision also reflects VINAFCO’s aspiration to work with industry partners to transform infrastructure capabilities and operational expertise into efficient, reliable logistics solutions, contributing to the continued development of Vietnam’s logistics industry.
